“Da sempre l’arte nasce dall’incontro tra materia ed artista. L’abbiamo vista in molteplici forme, dagli albori dei tempi fino a noi, oggi. Assistiamo costantemente al mutare del volto dell’arte, alla ricerca di nuove forme espressive. Sollecitata dall’invadenza della tecnologia, l’arte fugge dalla verosimiglianza con il mondo naturale, realizzandosi in espressioni talora sorprendenti.” È qui che si inserisce l’opera di Massimo Rinversi. Massimo Rinversi riesce a trasformare la comune percezione delle cose in una realtà totalmente nuova. Il percorso creativo che l’artista realizza nasce da un semplice obiettivo fotografico. Un mezzo tecnico, dunque, ma sublimato dalla creatività dell’artista stesso che rielabora l’oggetto inquadrato dall’obiettivo in forme rutilanti che vanno a generare nuove composizioni. Tali composizioni introducono l’osservatore in inattese dimensioni spaziali attraverso le quali lo sguardo sembra penetrare ed entrare nel cosmo. Una nuova definizione di spazio, quindi, che ci fa mutare il suo stesso concetto, forse meno fisico e più filosofico. Nuove forme, colori e spazi catturano, così, chi le scruta lasciando l’osservatore intrigato e libero, al tempo stesso, per una sua personale interpretazione. Ogni opera, nella sua particolare forma, crea emozioni e comprensioni sempre nuove. Ogni opera ci conduce in quegli spazi armonici che andiamo tanto cercando. Spazi armonici virtuali che diventano però reali. Poi non si ha più bisogno di altro. La visione delle opere di Massimo Rinversi ci fa comprendere di aver assistito alla nascita di composizioni capaci di generare vie nuove nell’arte contemporanea.

“Le mie fotografie traducono la sintesi compiuta tra la formazione culturale, gli studi, la professione di architetto e la passione per la fotografia, nata fin dagli anni ’70. La semplice foto, seppur bella quando coglie l’attimo, mi è sembrata troppo statica; la realtà cambia in frazioni di secondo e questo è il mio tentativo di superare tale staticità. Soffermandomi sul particolare di una singola foto, sono andato alla ricerca di nuove possibilità e composizioni fotografiche che potessero scaturire dalla foto stessa. Attraverso un tratto di un fotogramma, prima scomposto e poi ricomposto, ho creato nuove realizzazioni fotografiche che consegno ai visitatori per una libera e personale interpretazione. Dal catturare l’istante, la foto si trasforma, così, in una riproduzione dinamica che sa raccontare nuove emozioni attraverso nuove forme e nuove dimensioni spaziali che ho avuto la pazienza di andare a scoprire e portare alla luce. Per immagini e colori rimango sempre fedele alla foto di origine, anche se le rielaborazioni arrivano all’astrattismo. In questo percorso, che va dalla realtà alla fantasia, mi sono lasciato guidare dal mio senso artistico ed architettonico ricercando e creando nuovi abbinamenti di forme, colori e spazi che potessero soddisfare il mio senso estetico e la mia ricerca di corrispondenza cosmica.” La foto di partenza non è più riconoscibile ma acquista vita nuova. Tali nuove creazioni invitano l’osservatore ad immergersi nelle molteplici aggregazioni di forme, spazi, colori e, liberando la propria immaginazione, a riconoscere nuove armonie artistiche.

Massimo Rinversi è nato a Roma dove si è laureato in architettura presso la facoltà di Valle Giulia. Subito dopo la laurea e l’abilitazione, ha vinto diversi concorsi pubblici come architetto urbanista. Ha sempre esercitato la professione di architetto, continuando però a coltivare la sua passione per la fotografia, nata fin dai suoi anni universitari. Nell’anno 2000 ha ricevuto l’incarico a Direttore Generale di urbanistica e casa della Regione Lazio, posizione mantenuta fino al suo pensionamento. Durante la sua carriera professionale, ha realizzato molteplici progetti tra i quali quello della chiesa di Santa Maddalena di Canossa a Roma, inaugurata e benedetta da Papa San Giovanni Paolo II nel 1997. Massimo Rinversi ha esposto le sue opere in varie parti del mondo, ricevendo sempre grande apprezzamento per la sua arte innovativa che continua a coltivare con profonda passione. Vive ed opera a Roma; trascorre lunghi periodi sull’isola di Filicudi; continua a viaggiare per conoscere, sempre più, le popolazioni del mondo.

“Art has always been born from the encounter between matter and artist.” We have been observing it in many forms from the dawn of time. We witness the ever-changing face of art, from subject to the search for new expressive forms. With the acceptance of photography as an art form, our concept of art changed. With the inventiveness of Massimo Rinversi’s photographic technics, our concept of photography may need to change. His work escapes the verisimilitude of the natural world, realizing itself in expressions often surprising. Rinversi transforms the common perception of things into a new reality. One is reminded of Matisse’s paper cut-outs, but with the precision of an architect. The creative path where he begins is the camera lens. By technical means he then recreates the framed object into glowing forms that generate new compositions. These compositions introduce the viewer into unexpected spatial dimensions. By attending to these dimensions, the viewer’s gaze may seem to penetrate other worlds. Each work, taken in its particularity, can be accompanied by new emotions and understandings. Each work can lead us into the harmonious spaces we have long been looking for. Rinversi has no small aim for his art. He wants to change the viewer for the better; to provide comfort, but most of all to invoke wonder. This new definition of space is perhaps less physical and more philosophical. The new shapes, colors and spaces may capture those who scrutinize them, leaving the observer intrigued yet free to personal interpretation. This harmonious space can eventually become reality. And then, you no longer need anything else.

“My photographs are an attempt to convey the synthesis achieved through my cultural education, my studies, my profession as an architect and my passion for photography, which began over fifty years ago. The photograph, although beautiful when it captures the moment, seemed static to me; reality changes in fractions of a second; this is my attempt to overcome this static nature and capture this change. For this exhibition especially, by focusing on the detail of a single photo, I went in search of new possibilities and compositions that could arise from the photograph itself. Taking a section of a frame, first breaking it down and then recomposing it, I create new compositions. I then offer these new compositions to the viewer with the hope their interpretations of the work will provide them with value. From originally capturing the moment, the photograph is transformed into a dynamic reproduction that can convey new emotions through new shapes and spatial dimensions that I discovered and bring to light. I remain faithful to images and colors of the source photographs even when the reworkings reach points of abstraction. On this path from one reality to another, I allow myself to be guided by my artistic and architectural sense: researching and creating new combinations of shapes, colors and spaces that satisfy my aesthetic sense and my search for cosmic correspondence. The starting photograph no longer recognizable, takes on new life. These new creations invite the observers to immerse themselves into the multiple aggregations of shapes, colors, spaces freeing their imagination to recognize new artistic harmonies.

Massimo Rinversi was born in Rome and has lived and worked there all his life. He graduated from the Facoltà Di Architettura Valle Giulia. After graduating, Rinversi won several public competitions in urban architecture. He has practiced the profession of architect throughout his career, while continuing to cultivate his skills in photography. During his professional career, he has carried out numerous building projects, including the church of Santa Maddalena di Canossa in Rome. The church was inaugurated and blessed by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1997. In 2000, he attained the position of General Director of Urban Planning and Housing of the Lazio Region, a position he held until his retirement. Rinversi has exhibited his works in Europe and the United States to generous appreciation for his innovative art, which he continues to cultivate with profound passion. He continues to live in Rome, and spending time on the island of Filicudi. He loves traveling the world and learning about people.
